On August 10, 2024, Morobe Mission of the Seventh Day Adventist Church held a momentous ordination service at the Bulolo Town Adventist Church. This significant event marked the official recognition and commissioning of three dedicated gospel workers, who have answered the call to serve in their respective districts.

The individuals ordained were:

Pr. Henry Yawising from Bulolo District

Pr. Kevin Pais from Menyamya District

Pr. Steven Mark from Huon Gulf District

The ordination service was presided over by the Morobe Mission Administrative Team, led by:

In a meaningful gesture of support and collaboration, the Morobe Adventist Students Association (MOASA) presented copies of the “Great Controversy” book to students at Markham Valley Adventist students on the Sabbath of August 3rd. The event, held at the school chapel, was marked by a sense of joy and anticipation as students received their books—a first-time donation from MOASA.

Lae, Morobe Province – The Morobe Mission Communication and Media Department is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the recent Children’s Sabbath School New Curriculum Training held at the 2mile Church in Lae. This significant event marked the transition from the Grace Link curriculum to the innovative Alive in Jesus Curriculum.

The Morobe Mission of the SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH under the department of Women's /Children Ministry and Personal Ministry is excited to announce the Training of a revolutionary curriculum designed to uplift and empower the next generation of Children Ministries teacher, Pastors and lay workers. The "Alive In Jesus" is a new Curriculum is set to transform the old Grace Link approach to Children's Sabbath School, incorporating essential pillars to foster grace, character development, and a strong sense of mission.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Stewardship Department of Morobe Mission and the Eastern Highlands Simbu Mission for their unwavering support and dedication. It is through their collaborative efforts and partnership that this training became a resounding success. Together, we have demonstrated the power of unity and shared commitment to nurturing and equipping our community.

The Morobe Mission Life Skills Training continued to empower participants on its third day with a hands-on session focused on the practical art of Citrus budding. Held at the picturesque training grounds of Ragiampun, the day was marked by enthusiasm and dedication from all involved.

The training, which aims to equip individuals with essential agricultural skills, saw participants eagerly engaging in the meticulous process of citrus budding. Led by experienced horticulturists and supported by local agricultural experts, attendees learned the intricate techniques involved in grafting citrus trees.

The Morobe Mission's Life Skills Training program entered its fourth day with a focus on sustainable agriculture, particularly on the natural production of organic stock feed. Participants gathered at the training grounds eager to delve into innovative methods that promote both environmental stewardship and economic viability.

Led by expert agriculturalists and sustainability advocates Mr. John Sese, participants engaged in hands-on learning sessions aimed at understanding the benefits of organic stock feed production. The training emphasized techniques that minimize reliance on synthetic inputs, ensuring a healthier approach to livestock management.

Effective Hive Management

At Morobe Mission, we emphasize effective hive management as the cornerstone of successful beekeeping. We encourage all beekeepers to adopt a proactive approach, becoming stewards rather than mere hive owners. Regular inspections, monitoring hive health, and timely interventions are essential practices that contribute to a thriving bee community.

Navigating Potential Dangers

While beekeeping is rewarding, it is not without its challenges. Predators such as animals and the unfortunate risk of theft are significant concerns. To safeguard your hives, implement protective measures such as secure enclosures and vigilant monitoring. By addressing these risks promptly, we ensure the safety and continuity of our bee colonies.

Understanding Bee Roles and Responsibilities

Within the hive, bees perform distinct roles crucial to its functioning. The worker bees, predominantly female, are responsible for tasks such as foraging for nectar and pollen, nursing the brood, and maintaining hive cleanliness. Conversely, drone bees, the male counterparts, play a vital role in mating with the queen to ensure the hive's genetic diversity.

Each bee's role is integral to the hive's productivity and sustainability. By understanding and respecting their responsibilities, we contribute to the overall health of our bee colonies.

Participants then delved into the hands-on segment of the training, where they learned the intricate process of preparing mushroom beds, seeding them with spawn, and ensuring optimal conditions for growth. This practical approach was met with enthusiasm and curiosity, as attendees actively participated in every step of the cultivation process.

"We are excited to learn these skills because mushrooms are not only nutritious but also a potential source of income for us," shared by participants.

Throughout the day, discussions also revolved around the environmental benefits of mushroom cultivation, such as its role in recycling agricultural waste and enhancing soil health. Participants were encouraged to adopt these eco-friendly practices within their own farming endeavours’.

As the training concluded, Mr. Smith Kintau, master of ceremony, underscored the importance of sustainability and community collaboration in agricultural development. Today marks the commencement of an ambitious initiative by the Stewardship Department of Morobe Mission in Ragiampun. Under the guidance of Pastor Charles Paul, the Morobe Mission has embarked on a journey of learning and empowerment through practical agricultural training.

The inaugural day of the Morobe Mission Life Skills Training featured an array of insightful sessions designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and hands-on experience. The focus areas included bee breeding for honey production, grapevine cultivation, mushroom cultivation, and citrus tree care. Each session provided attendees with comprehensive insights into successful agricultural practices, from planting techniques to effective maintenance strategies.

Lae, Papua New Guinea — The University of Technology (Unitech) will host the Public Campus Retention Conference on July 12th and 13th, 2024, at Duncanson Hall. This significant event, organized by the Youth and Public Campus Ministry Department of Morobe Mission, aims to address key issues and strategies for retaining students on campus.

The conference will feature esteemed guest speaker Dr. Sven Ostring, the Director of Ministry and Strategy Family Ministries-Liaison at the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Dr. Ostring, renowned for his expertise in youth and public campus ministries, will share valuable insights and practical approaches to improve student retention.

Attendees can look forward to a series of engaging sessions, workshops, and discussions designed to foster a supportive and enriching campus environment. The event seeks to bring together students, faculty, and administrative staff to collaborate on solutions that enhance student life and academic success.

Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province – The serene town of Goroka became a hub of theological discourse as the Lae District Adventist team of pastors and elders attended the highly anticipated Adventist Theological Society Conference. The event was held at the Kama Seventh-day Adventist Church, drawing a diverse array of participants from various corners of the globe.

The conference, themed "Adventist Identity," focused on the core aspects of Adventist Biblical Identity, aiming to strengthen the foundational beliefs and principles that define the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Esteemed facilitators from the United States, Brazil, and the South Pacific Division led the sessions, bringing a wealth of knowledge and diverse perspectives to the discussions.

In a significant step forward for Ragiampun Adventist High School, the institution proudly opened its newly built staff house and male ablution block. The inauguration event saw attendance from esteemed guests and speakers who commended the school's efforts and highlighted the importance of the new infrastructure.

The designated area, located a mere 10-minute walk from the Main Highlands Highway, holds immense promise as a site for spiritual growth and community engagement. Notably, it has also been utilized for the transformative PNG for CHRIST initiative, further cementing its significance as a beacon of hope and salvation for the region.

Morobe Mission President, Pastor Kua Nungai, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the YARU Clan members for their unwavering faith and generosity. He emphasized the dual purpose of the land, serving both the needs of the church and the broader community. Pastor Nungai commended the clan for prioritizing God in their lives, citing it as a guiding principle for continued blessings and prosperity.

Echoing these sentiments, the Director of Sabbath School and Personal Ministry (SSPM) within the Morobe Mission, Pastor James Dirye, reiterated the concept of stewardship as a fundamental tenet of faith. In the wake of the transformative PNG for Christ Reaping campaign, the Menyamya Station of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is poised for a remarkable expansion. Propelled by the fervor of seventeen small groups established in alignment with the PNGUM and Morobe Mission's Nurturing, Retention, and Church Planting programs, the church board has embarked on an ambitious endeavor.

Group number twelve, among the seventeen, has stepped forward with unwavering determination to establish a new branch church. This initiative aims to accommodate the growing number of interested individuals and newly baptized members, fostering a nurturing environment for spiritual growth and fellowship.

We are thrilled to announce that the Morobe Mission of the SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH has initiated a groundbreaking Retention Training Program aimed at supporting newly baptized members during the ongoing PNG FOR CHRIST EVANGELISM REAPING CAMPAIGN. This program is a significant step towards ensuring the spiritual growth and long-term engagement of individuals who have recently joined the Seventh-day Adventist community.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has finally made a breakthrough into an area which is a stronghold for the Lutheran church .Finschhafen is regarded as the home and birth place of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The church’s office is located at Helsburg, which is some 5 kilometers away from Wengune Seventh-day Adventist Church. For years, since the establishment of the church at Wengune, no attempt was made to visit or conduct seminars on the books of Revelation and Daniel in nearby places due to resistance from the locals. Recently, the Morobe Mission held a district camp meeting at Gaugau community near Helsburg. 

The District Director for Finschhafen PR Raymond Pololi ran a meeting from November 21- 27 on the theme Laspla Singaut blo God (God’s Final Call).Ten (10) people were baptized at the end of the meeting. More than 800 people witnessed the baptism. It was an eye-opener for them because baptisms are done through sprinkling in their church.

The community made a commitment to build a lamb shelter so that they can continue to bring light to others who are yet to know the truth. They also requested for prayers so that they can build a church. Church members and baptismal candidates camped along Skull Head beach to attend the meeting. 

Many people from nearby areas attended the meetings each night. After morning devotions, church members, both old and young, took part in activities under the Total Membership Involvement (TMI) initiative. They helped locals who had allowed the meeting in their community. 

The activities included the refurbishment of a step for the house of a landowner. The landowner initially allowed the church to build the stage and kitchen for the camp meeting and provided water supply for the campers. The members also arranged to help build a copra fermentary for a widow so she could meet all her needs.

TWENTY people were baptised recently at an evangelistic meeting orgnaised by the Gurako Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Huon Gulf District, Morobe.

When the province went into a lockdown due to COV- ID-19, the church conducted the meeting from October 31 to November 13.

At the end of the meeting the 20 were baptised.

More people responded to the appeal after the baptism.

Among them were people who had left the church for more than 10 years. They made commitments to return to church.

A Lutheran church leader also responded to the appeal for baptism in future. He was there to witness his nephew’s baptism.

According to records, this year’s baptism figure exceeded the previous year’s.

Eastern Highlands/Simbu Mission hosted the third Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM) Health Summit in Goroka, over the weekend (15th-17th August).

Delegates from the Sepik Mission, Madang/Manus Mission, Morobe Mission, Western Highlands and the host Mission, Eastern Highlands/Simbu Mission all attended the PNGUM health summit at the Phoenix Hotel in Goroka, Eastern Highlands province.

Also attending the summit are the South Pacific Division (SPD) delegates, Dr. Leigh Rice, former PNGUM President, Dr. John Skrzypaszek, Director of the Ellen G. White/Seventh-day Adventist Research Centre, Avondale University, DR. Chester Kuma, Health Director for the SPD and Mr. Gad Koito, PNGUM Health Director.

The summit not only empowers the health professionals in their ministries but also gives them new concepts and ideas in approaching new souls in their ministries. "We are so privileged that the Lord brings souls to our workplace unlike pastors, we go looking for souls," said Dr. Leigh Rice as he introduces the discovery Bible reading to at the summit.

The summit commences on the 15th and will end on Sunday the 17th August.

Morobe Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Churches launched the Evangelism initiative at the Sir Ignatius Kilage indoor stadium in Lae over the weekend on Saturday.

The Evangelism initiative launched is to help equip and prepare lay preachers, leaders and pastors for evangelism work. According to Morobe Missions (MM) Personal Ministry and Sabbath School (PMSS) director, Pastor Enosh Enopa, the initiative also introduces its new approach in Evangelism, the Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria 24/7 Ministry as post and pre-evangelism. Applying biblical commands of Jesus in Acts 1:8.

The Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria 24/7 Ministry concept is the evangelical approach the mission will now focus on. Simply starting with Families, from inside out. Evangelism at the immediate family member level (Jerusalem), evangelism at the extended family members level (Judea) and evangelism at public level (Samaria).

“With the initiative being launched, the local mission is now aiming to baptize 10 000 new members in addition to its existing 20 000 members in May 2020, from 200 evangelistic sites.” Said Pr. Enopa, “In addition, we will try our best to create 5000 small groups from the existing 300 Sabbath schools by June 2020, and to re-disciple church members to disciple new members as they come in.” he added.

Morobe Mission also for the first time had 130 active laity and missionaries attend its first ever School of Evangelism on the 7th to 12th of July, where Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM) President, Pastor Kepsie Elodo prayed over and charged them at the stadium. These 130 will be the ones to go out to prepare and organize the 200 evangelical sites for June 2020.

Seven new pastors also made a highlight at the launching on their ordination. All of which have been serving more than 5 years in the ministry.

Morobe Mission has taken a new step into live video streaming last week when when it successfully streamed a week of evangelistic meeting at Bubirumpun. 

The project was part of the communication department's new breakthrough to help place the gospel and the truth in a new and also the latest platform of communication.

It was a big breakthrough for the Morobe Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to venture into live video streaming.
