In a significant boost to local communities, the United States Navyโ€™s Veterinary Division through Pacific Partnership Program 2025 concluded a three-day agricultural and livestock training initiative this week. Held from July 28-31 at the 2-Mile Multi-purpose Hall, the program equipped participants with essential skills aimed at enhancing livelihoods and building a more resilient future for the Morobe Province.

Facilitated by U.S. Navy personnel, the training covered a wide range of practical subjects. From mastering food safety protocols and meat preservation techniques to acquiring expertise in dairy, egg, poultry, and goat husbandry, the curriculum was designed to provide actionable knowledge. Participants included representatives from the Morobe Provincial Department of Agriculture and Livestock, members of the Labu Miti Women's Association & Lae About Tours, and gospel workers from the Morobe Mission.

This collaborative effort directly supports the vision of Pastor Charles Paul, the Stewardship Director of the Morobe Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. His goal is to train "Stewardship Ambassadors" across all districts of the Morobe Mission field, who will use their new skills in agriculture and livestock management to uplift their communities and also trained others.

The program's closing ceremony underscored a shared commitment to long-term cooperation. A representative from the Morobe Provincial Government, Mr. John, expressed profound gratitude to both the U.S. Navy and Pastor Paul, emphasizing the need to sustain this partnership to better serve the people of Morobe. U.S. Navy Captain Brown reciprocated this sentiment, thanking the community for their hospitality and friendly culture. She urged participants to apply their training, stating, "I'm glad that I've become a part of your community."

Pastor James Dirye, speaking on behalf of the Morobe Mission, hailed the training as "just the beginning." He highlighted the value of such initiatives for developing nations, noting their crucial role in building personal capabilities at the community level. The ceremony concluded with Captains Jackson and Brown, along with Hendrix, presenting certificates to the newly trained participants. In a touching display of cultural exchange, U.S. Navy facilitators were gifted traditional Morobe Bilums, each containing a Bible.
