Cross-Border Outreach

23 Jan 2025

The International Border Ministry, an initiative by the South Pacific Division and the Papua New Guinea Union Mission, is gearing up for its departure to Fiji. There, the team will undergo training and participate in regional union conferences, collaborating with partners from the Trans Pacific Union Mission, New Zealand, and Australia.

Led by Pastor Obed and Minister Nelson Yanding Yawising, the team will focus on strategic planning and cross-border ministry, particularly supporting churches along the culturally diverse and logistically challenging Papua New Guinea-Indonesia border.

Four field ministers—Standley Lucas, Kimon Kaple, John Marris, and Daniel Marisa—will be deployed to Indonesia to engage with local communities, provide spiritual outreach, and support churches. The training in Fiji will equip the team with vital skills in cross-cultural communication, community development, and intercountry collaboration.

“We are grateful for the support of our partners and look forward to fruitful collaboration,” said Pastor Obed. The ministry team asks for prayers for safe travels, successful training, and the effective deployment of field ministers.

This initiative marks a significant step towards uniting churches across borders and advancing the gospel throughout the South Pacific Division and Southern Asia Division.
