GIS Training a Success
Land is a very important and valuable commodity in the community as well as the church today.
The need of proper knowledge and understanding of the protocols involved in acquiring land for mission purposes is of a very high demand in the church today. In a training conducted by the Secretariat, Lands and Communications department this week, the mission secretary Pastor Kua Nugai said, “I was looking to take up courses in this particular area of study in the lands department some time ago, but I want to thank Mr Misivet and Roy Kumbou for making this possible.”
Participants came in from all the districts of Morobe Mission, most of them are the district directors. The training was conducted on the 5th to the 8th of February at the mission's headquarter at 2 Mile here in Lae. The main focus of the training is on Global Information System (GIS). Participants are trained on how to locate areas using GPS devices and then plotting it into maps.
In addition, "the mission is happy to work with the PNGUM as a field for any pilot project to be conducted at a minimal cost," added the mission president Pastor Blasius Managos.
