The Seventh-day Adventist churches of Lae has distributed food and clothing worth almost some thousands of kina to support flood affected communities of Wampar LLG. The items were donated were bales of rice, bales of used clothings, utensils, medicine, tools, and food crops. The beneficiary communities were Mare and Gabensis village.
In a statement by one of the village elders of Mare, he said, government support was not enough to support all the flood affected victims but he thanked the Adventist church for having such a good heart to support the affected communities. Distributing the donations to the beneficiaries, the Morobe Mission president Pastor Blasius Managos told the people that it is also the mission of the church to look into the wellness of the people and not only the spiritual well-being of their lives.
The donation, the first of its kind church assistance since the disaster, was provided by Seventh-day Adventist churches of Lae and the Morobe Mission headquarter on Sunday the 5th of November, in response to the disaster and the need to reach out to many affected persons.
The Village magistrate described the villages as two of the worst affected areas in the local level government council of Wampar. He advocated specifically for more support from the mission and the church to help assist his community where necessary in the future.
